State troopers are looking for the person who hit a teen in Seminole last week, and took off.

Authorities believe the person was driving a late model red Toyota or Hyundai.

Thomas King, 18, was walking down Seminole Boulevard near 102nd Avenue around 1:30 a.m. on April 23 when he was hit.

Thomas, known by his family as funny and a talented skateboarder, is now fighting for his life.

"I wouldn't wish this on any parent," said stepfather Dane Chandler. "It's devastating."

Thomas' parents said he's in critical condition at Bayfront Health with a skull fracture and brain injuries, along with other broken bones.

“Nobody's kid deserves anything like this," said Thomas’ mother Kimberly Tingler.

"It was terrible," said friend Cade McAllister, who said he was walking with Thomas when it happened.

McAllister said he barely got out of the way himself.

"I just had enough time to turn like this, and the car went past me, and turned back and seen my best friend flying,” said McAllister.  “The car didn't hit the brakes one time, it just kept going."

McAllister said he didn't have a phone to call 911, and had to run to a nearby business for help.

Thomas' brother was down the street, and ran to Thomas' side.

"I thought he was going to pass away.  He was gripping my hand and the next thing you know, he just let go of my hand," said Thomas’ brother, Cody Sotelo.

FHP released still photos from surveillance video captured near the scene of the vehicle they believe was involved.

Thomas' family wants to know who's responsible.

"We just want to know how it happened and why. Because myself, if I hit anyone, I would stop,” said Tingler, “Especially that late at night, he could've been there alone and left to bleed to death on the sidewalk."

Above all, the family wants to see Thomas recover. Tingler said doctors aren’t sure yet what kind of treatment Thomas will need, because of his brain injuries.
