Turtle nesting season has officially started in Manatee County.
Volunteers just spotted the first loggerhead sea turtle nest on Anna Maria Island.
They discovered it just south of 30th Street in Holmes Beach. They verified there were eggs and marked it off with stakes, according to our partners at the Herald.
The eggs should hatch in 55 to 70 days.
