Mayor rappels down St. Pete building for good cause

St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Kriseman went "over the edge" in support of Big Brothers Big Sisters.

Mayor Kriseman joined others from the community to rappel down 19 stories of One Progress Plaza, which is St. Petersburg's tallest building.

Kriseman was joined by Raymond, the mascot for the Tampa Bay Rays, and ThunderBug, who is the mascot for the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Employees at several local businesses also raised money so they could "toss their boss" Over the Edge.

Every year, the event raises money for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Tampa Bay, with the goal of pairing more children with a volunteer mentor.

"Over the Edge" continues Saturday at 9 a.m. There's still time to sign up if you want to join the fun. Donors who bring in $1,250 on the day of the event will be allowed to participate.
