No charges will be filed in the death of a one-month-old Auburndale baby.

Police said Aiken Starks was staying with his father's family last December at the time of his death.

Investigators said the boy had been under the care of two young relatives, ages 10 and 12, on the night of Dec. 21 into the morning of Dec. 22, which is when his mother came to the home and found him not breathing.

Aiken later died at Winter Haven Hospital. His death certificate showed that he died from head trauma, and his death was ruled a homicide.

In a letter, Assistant State Attorney Hope Pattey wrote that, based on the autopsy, it's clear that the child died as a result of shaken baby syndrome, but it's unclear what happened and who is responsible, mainly due to inconsistencies in statements by all the children involved.
