A total of five people, including the owner of the gun, were treated for minor injuries after an accidental shooting in the lobby of a hotel on Gulf Blvd.

According to police, Stan Lee, 47, was checking in to the hotel around 2:24 p.m. at the Clearwater Beach Marriott Suites on Sand Key when he tried to grab his wallet from his left pocket and instead grabbed his 9mm Glock, causing it to accidentally discharge.

The bullet grazed his left leg and then hit the tile of the floor causing it to shatter, officials said. The fragments from the tile hit four other people, including a hotel employee, an adult male guest and two children, ages 5 and 2.

Police said their wounds are superficial.

Amanda Busick heard the shooting from inside the hotel.

"Surprisingly, there was a lot of calm from the guy who shot himself," Busick said. "Kids immediately started screaming and crying, started shaking they were very scared"

The man, who has a concealed weapons permit, was taken to Morton Plant Hospital with minor injures. Police say he is a hotel guest from Ormond Beach.

A charge of culpable negligence was forwarded to the Pasco-Pinellas State Attorney's Office.
