The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is investigating a possible accidental overdose at Buchanan Middle School.
Deputies said three female students, between the ages of 13 and 14, apparently ingested something in the girls bathroom.
When they left the bathroom, they collapsed and school officials called 911.
They said the girls were showing symptoms liked slurred speech.
All three students were taken to the hospital to be evaluated.
Deputies are looking into the possibility that the substance was "spice" or synthetic marijuana. They said samples have been taken to be tested but the results could take several weeks.
Both the sheriff's office and the school district are investigating what the teens took and where they got it.
They said the teens are expected to be OK.
School officials aren't saying yet whether any disciplinary action will be taken.
