The summer-like pattern of late-day showers and storms will continue this weekend in the Tampa Bay area.

The pattern has not changed much in the last couple days. East winds again brought the east coast sea breeze all the way across the state.

A few showers popped up in the mid afternoon in Western Manatee and Southern Pinellas Counties.  But when the sea breezes collided in the evening, storms developed first in Western Manatee County.

"The storms spread north along the sea breeze into the southern half of Pinellas around sunset," said Bay News 9 meteorologist Diane Kacmarik.

There was some lightning, but definitely gusty winds to 30 mph were a feature of Saturday’s storms. Storms pushed into the Gulf by 9:30 pm. High temperatures were again above normal, mostly in the 90s.

Sunday will bring a 60% chance of afternoon and evening storms, so there will be more coverage than Saturday.
