The Pasco County Supervisor of Elections office has mailed out more than 8,000 requests for updated signatures from voters who want to receive mail ballots next year.

Voters who have not updated their signature since 2005 were mailed a letter, a return envelope, and a voter registration application to update their signature.

Signatures undergo changes throughout life due to maturing or for medical reasons.  Every vote-by-mail ballot signature is compared and verified against what is on the voter registration file, making it critical to document these changes, the elections office said in a news release.

Voter registration signatures are also used for comparison to signatures on initiative and candidate petitions, making signature updates important for all voters, the elections office said.

Voter registration applications for signature updates are available online at pascovotes.com or by calling 800-851-8754.
