A final wish of a Mulberry man is being fulfilled this week. The Certified Foundations company is making repairs to his home.

Veteran Jim Bearb was dying of cancer last year when the company learned his house was sinking, needed major repairs and his insurance company wouldn't pay for the repairs.

Bearb's wife Dale said her husband was devastated that he might leave her with a home she couldn't live in or sell.

"My husband was raised as a southern gentleman. My husband was raised to be the head of the household. The man of the house. The control of everything, and this he could not control," she said.

Certified foundations met with Jim Bearb in his home shortly before his death and told him they would repair his home for free.

"My husband and I became very emotional. It's overwhelming. Out of nowhere this Godsend came through and gave us an out on so many levels," said Dale Bearb.

Certified Foundations salesman Tito Aquino delivered the good news to the Bearbs.

"To see that he was going to be leaving her in good hands and that his home was going to be taken care of made him feel good," he said.

Two other companies, RK Engineering and Digital Concrete Imaging have donated their services to the project.

American Legion Post 4 in Lakeand will hold a celebration of life in honor of Jim Bearb and as a thank you to the companies on May 31st.
