The days of free parking may have come to an end in Dunedin.

The current plan is to create a pay parking zone in the core of the city as a pilot project. That revenue can be used for future purchase and construction.

"It's going to be either paid parking which is actually charging the person who is parking in the parking space or you charge the tax payers, or you charge the business community and you do a business area tax," said Gregory Brady, the president of the Downtown Dunedin Merchants Association.

Gregory's best advice for anyone with questions?

"Come to a meeting. Come to a meeting. Come to a meeting,” he said.

If all goes as planned the pilot project for Dunedin parking will be in place this fall.

The city and downtown merchants will post updates on the Dunedin website, there is also a Dunedin parking Facebook page and information will be included in resident's water bills.
