The rain chances will stay relatively low for the Tampa Bay area tonight and tomorrow, according to Bay News 9 meteorologist Josh Linker.

Inland areas could see some heavy rain and showers, but only scattered showers are expected along the coast. The rain chance is 20 percent today and 10 percent tomorrow - though higher toward the middle of the state.

But the summer-like pattern that brought regular afternoon and evening rain the first half of the month will return for the Memorial Day weekend.

"What's going to happen over time is an area of high pressure is going to eventually lift back to the north and we'll get into an east-flow wind pattern by Friday and especially into the weekend," Linker said. "That means afternoon and evening showers and storms back on our side of the state."

The rain chances jump to 30 percent Friday, 40 percent Saturday and 50 percent Sunday before falling back to 40 percent Monday.
