The Warner’s Bayou Boat Ramp project in Bradenton has taken two years to complete.

The new boat ramps, bathrooms and water-run off system were completed in 2013.

However, for two years, Manatee County needed to delay the rest of the work because citizens were concerned over plans to pave the ramp, located at 5800 Riverview Boulevard.

The county finally decided to pave the ramp with concrete and shell. This month, the project was finally completed and boaters are happy with the outcome.

“Your trailer doesn’t fall apart pulling in here," said local boater Richard Tilebein. "Going out it’s in one piece still. It’s nice."

Boats are going into the water and thanks to a new concrete and shell paved parking lot, drivers have a smoother ride.

Before the new paving, the parking lot was dirt with potholes. Manatee County says that boaters complained of tracking mud and shell into their boats.

Other recent renovations include new signs and extended floating dock for better handicap access.

Since 2013, the area has received new ramps, bathrooms, water run off system, fish cutting table and other ADA accessible features.

Boaters who have used the ramp for years say the finished boat ramp is a huge improvement.

"You know the new sign and just the overall upgraded look it makes me smile," said boater Tomy Tullio. "They did a great job."

The total cost of the renovation project including the boat ramps, bathrooms, concrete and new signage came in around $1.1 million.

The boat ramp was closed for about 40 days to complete the project. Warner’s Bayou Boat Ramp is considered the second busiest boat ramp in Manatee County.
