A St. Petersburg High School senior has become a Gates Millennium Scholar.
Jae' Lyn Dorsey, 17, is the only student from Pinellas County to win that honor. She won a scholarship that will pay her entire tuition throughout college at the University of Florida.
Dorsey couldn't believe it when she got the acceptance letter from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
"I broke down," said Dorsey. "I was on my knees, boohoo crying. I was letting my mom hold me which is not often."
"It was a complete blessing from God," said Dorsey's mom Janelle Batson.
Dorsey beat out tens of thousands of students for the money to attend the University of Florida.
She plans to study to become a pediatric plastic surgeon.
