There won't be much of a change Memorial Day for the Bay area weather-wise as heat and humidity will precede afternoon showers and storms.

According to Bay News 9 meteorologist Diane Kacmarik, rain chances are 40 percent on Monday.

"Monday looks very similar. It will be hot, easterly breezes, with afternoon and evening storms especially in the coastal counties," she said.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms developed late Sunday afternoon, moving west-northwest toward the Gulf.

A funnel cloud was spotted in Bradenton. Lightning struck a tree in West Bradenton.

The highest rainfall totals Sunday were seen in Plant City with two to three inches, according to Kacmarik.

"Storms popped up in the Plant City area, then additional storms kept forming just to the west and repeatedly moved over Plant City," Kacmarik said.

Storms ended by around 8 p.m.

High temperatures for the next several days will be in the low 90s.

Monday will be hot with an easterly breeze. It will stay dry early in the day. Storms will develop near the coast in the mid to late afternoon and evening.
