The family of an 18-year-old man stabbed to death in 2010 wants to honor his name.

Carmen and Danny Acevedo are still haunted by the pain and heartbreak of losing their only son, Enrique.

"There is not one day that I wake up that I don't think of my son," Danny said.

"He loved us and we loved him in return," said his mother Carmen.

Next month will mark the five year anniversary of his murder and his family wants to honor him by creating a scholarship in his name.

"What I wish now is to keep his name going and know that he is always in our hearts and in our thoughts," Carmen said.

Carmen and Danny plan to start a scholarship in their son's name at Pasco Hernando State College. They're getting the word out and starting to raise money to get the scholarship off the ground.

"Now we have to go full force with this to keep my son's legacy going," Danny said.

"Now that I don't have a child going to college, I would like to help another student," Carmen said.

Enrique's family said he loved to help people whenever he could, so a scholarship is the perfect fit.

The Acevedo's first big fundraiser will be held on June 25th from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Texas Roadhouse restaurant in Brooksville.
