There may be isolated showers or thunderstorms today in the Bay area but nothing like the storms that unloaded on the area Tuesday night.

Strong thunderstorms moved through the region last night, dumping as much as four inches of rain in some spots during the evening.

The area will be much quieter weather-wise today, according to Bay News 9 meteorologist Juli Marquez.

  • Drier air from across the peninsula moving into Bay area
  • Rainfall amounts Tuesday ranged from 1 to 5 inches
  • The lightning was intense with thousands of strikes that went on for hours well into the night.
  • Rain chances only 10 percent Wednesday

"It will be partly sunny today with chances for an isolated shower or thunderstorm," Marquez said. "We have drier air moving across the peninsula and into the area from the Atlantic Ocean, so that will lower our rain chances the next few days."

Rain chances are 10 percent Wednesday and Thursday. Moisture will return to the area by Friday.

High temperatures will be in the low 90s.

"It will be hotter than normal today," Marquez said. "With only those isolated showers possibly popping up this afternoon."
