A 37-year-old man has been arrested and charged with shooting a man in a car in Spring Hill.

According the Hernando County Sheriff's Office, Amaury Yusbel Colarte has been arrested in connection with a shooting that happened Thursday.

Deputies responded to a shooting Thursday at 4704 Crescent Road and found Edward Padilla, who reported being shot in the back of the neck. Moments later, deputies also received call about a disturbance at a separate location - 9630 Northcliffe Boulevard.

Deputies quickly determined the calls were related.

An investigation revealed that Padilla, who was driving a black vehicle, provided a ride to a man who was going to sell a vehicle to Colarte.

During negotiations for the car sale, an argument broke out between Colarte and several other men who were present.

Officials said someone grabbed a baseball bat from Padilla's car and Colarte pulled out a knife. After a brief separation, Colarte went into his home and retrieved a gun.

Padilla then drove away.

Deputies said Colarte then shot at Padilla's car, striking him in the neck.

Padilla was transported to a Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point. Officials said his injuries were not life threatening. Padilla was treated and released from the hospital.

Colarte was arrested and charged with aggravated battery with a firearm and shooting into an occupied vehicle. He is being held on a $20,000 bond.
