Several locations Sunday afternoon reached the hottest temperatures we’ve seen so far this year.

Orlando climbed to 93 degrees, Leesburg at 94 degrees, and Sanford was a hot 96 degrees Sunday afternoon.

We did have a few showers and storms develop during the afternoon and evening as the east coast sea breeze moved west. The high heat and humidity will stick around for the next few days with increasing rain chances.

Partly cloudy skies are in the forecast through the overnight hours. Temperatures will be warm, with lows falling to around 70 degrees. More moisture has been able to move into Central Florida, so it will be muggy as we head toward daybreak on Monday.

The forecast this week will be pretty similar each day. Expect a summer-like pattern with highs around 90 degrees and a chance for afternoon showers and storms.

Ana made landfall around 6 a.m. Sunday morning between Myrtle Beach and North Myrtle Beach in South Carolina. This system weakened quickly once it moved onshore.  The remnants will be picked up by an approaching system and pushed quickly to the northeast.  Otherwise, the tropics are back to being quiet.

The official start of hurricane season is June 1st.
