Six people were arrested Thursday afternoon during a meth lab bust in Inverness.

The Citrus County Sheriff's Office began investigating after receiving reports that two mobile homes located on Independence Highway were being used to manufacture methamphetamine.

On Thursday, officials executed a search warrant at the property, securing the nine people who were inside the first mobile home. When they tried to secure the second mobile home, they encountered the odor and fumes of an active meth lab at the front door, the report said.

Two suspects came from the trailer through a cloud of chemical fumes. One of those suspects was later taken to Citrus Memorial Hospital due to possible contamination. He was released from the hospital, then taken to the Citrus County Detention Center.

Detectives put on protective gear and went into the mobile home to make sure no one else was inside. With the help of a hazmat team, detectives secured a large amount of meth in both liquid and powder form, drug paraphernalia and the components of an active meth lab, the report said.
