An arson fire at Brooksville’s Lake Lindsay United Methodist Church last week didn’t stop church members from worshiping on Sunday.

Church members were not able to hold Sunday service because of fire damage, so they joined sister church New Hope United Methodist Church in Citrus County.

Longtime Lake Lindsey church member Rhonda Lillie is very thankful.

"We do appreciate it and we are very thrilled," she said.

The fire at Lake Lindsey turned out to be a case of arson. Deputies said church member David Willmott Jr. set several fires in the church and fellowship hall. Deputies also said he admitted to everything.

Carol Roberts is the pastor for both churches. She said the key to all of this is forgiveness.

"Sometimes that's very hard to pray and ask god to please help us forgive, but that's what we are called to do and that's what we work hard doing," she said.

Members at Lake Lindsey United Methodist are hoping they can move back into their church in a couple of weeks. Work to fix all the damage could start as soon as this week.
