A Largo waitress is still in shock after getting a $1,000 tip.

"I am used to bad luck. I am not used to getting things handed to me at all,” Kari Vanardoy, a waitress at Wing House on Ulmerton Road, said.

Vanardoy works two jobs to support her 2-year-old son and save up enough money for a bigger apartment.

On Wednesday, she was handed the biggest tip of her life.

"They folded it in half and handed it to me and said, “This is for you and your son,’” Vanardoy said.

The couple had a $29 bill, but left a 3,500 percent tip.

"I had a lump in my throat,” Vanardoy said. “I didn’t know what to say and then I was like, ‘Oh my God, really guys?’"

"She was shaking and excited,” David Eschenfelder, the general manager, said. “She just couldn’t believe it. She just wanted to hug the lady and I had to come out here and just see the people myself."

Vanardoy said the tip came at the perfect time.

“I used it for a down payment on a new place for me and my son and my boyfriend,” Vanardoy said.

She said she will never forget the customers who changed her life.

"Thank you and God bless for helping out me and my little family,” Vanardoy said. “I am definitely going to pay it forward."
