A crash involving a Pinellas County Sheriff's deputy Sunday morning appears to be weather-related.

The single-vehicle crash occurred on Interstate-275 just before the exit to 38th Avenue North at approximately 10 a.m. on Sunday.

According to the sheriff’s office, Deputy Nocera was traveling southbound on Interstate 275 in heavy rain.

Due to the inclement weather, it appears Nocera's cruiser may have hydroplaned causing the vehicle to fishtail and strike the median guardrail barrier, the sheriff’s office said.

After striking the median barrier the vehicle spun around before coming to a final rest on the guardrail.

Nocera was transported via ambulance to Bayfront Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries.
