A 76-year-old woman died after she was hit by a car Tuesday while walking through the parking lot of a Haines City Publix, officials said.
Jean Byrum was walking through the crosswalk in front of the Publix off Highway 17 92 in Haines City when she was hit and pinned beneath the car, police say.
Byrum was taken to Lakeland Regional Health, where she died from her injuries.
The 84-year-old driver of the car said he never saw Byrum.
The crash remains under investigation.
