South Carolina officials say a camp had no permit for the high ropes course where a Lakeland teenager fell to her death earlier this week.

Officials with the state Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation said Friday that Carolina Point Camp in Sunset should have applied for permits before operating the pendulum swing where 16-year-old Olivia Paige Grimes died earlier this week.

Authorities say the teen died Monday after falling more than 100 feet from a swing at the camp on the South Carolina-North Carolina border.

Deputies said Grimes wasn't strapped into the apparatus but that they've found no evidence of foul play or mechanical failure.

It wasn't immediately clear how long the swing had been in operation. Camp officials didn't immediately return a message Friday.
