With the announcement that Congressman David Jolly is running for the U.S. Senate, 37-year-old Eric Lynn is now the only official candidate vying for the 13th District Congressional seat.

“Pinellas County is my home. My family has been here since before I was born,” Lynn said.  “I went to St. Petersburg High School my family and friends are here. We always intended to move back home.”

That is exactly what Lynn did, after working six years with the Obama administration as a senior advisor to the Secretary of Defense. At the Pentagon, Lynn said his focus was national security as well as issues in the Middle East.

During that time, Lynn said one of his standout accomplishments was helping to secure funding for the “Iron Dome,” Israel’s counter rocket system.

“We worked very closely with the Israeli Defense Forces on that system and I was so happy to the be the leader who was able to present it to both the Secretary of Defense and to the White House,” Lynn said.

Now, Lynn is kicking off his campaign for Congress. Some of the issues he said he is passionate about include helping veterans with job security and healthcare, national security and the economy.
