A local TV show is all about showing off the small town of Floral City.

The name of the show is "Floral City: The Real Old Florida." Each episode is packed with information about the quiet, historic town.

Shannon Burns-DeMilt is the show's creator and host. She and her crew just started shooting their second season.

"It's just a real-time look at me running around talking about a town I absolutely adore," she said. "I've lived here about 35 years and it's my home. It's my heart."

The show's focus is on local businesses, things to do around town and of course, all the rich history.

"We are just trying to bring this little slice of old Florida out to the people," Burns-DeMilt said.

Local historian Tom Ritchie is featured in one of the upcoming shows. He says when you visit Floral City, it's like stepping back in time.

"The main neighborhood is on the National Register of Historic Places," he said. "The town was established in 1884. That's a pretty old town, Florida-wise."

Burns-DeMilt says the show is getting more and more popular. She's happy about that because she wants more people to enjoy her hometown.

"With everything going on the way it does today, time passes and things are forgotten," she said. "I don't want this to be forgotten."

The second season will start in August. The show airs at 8:30 p.m. on Thursdays on WYKE in Citrus County. If you don't live in Citrus County, you can find the episodes on YouTube.
