Residents in St. Petersburg's seventh district got a chance to question candidates who want to be their next representative on the city council.

The forum was held at Childs Park on Tuesday night.

Current District 7 Councilman Wingay Newton was an audience member. Term limits won't allow him to run again.

In his place, Lewis Stephens, Jr., Lisa Wheeler-Brown, Sheila Scott Griffin, Aaron Sharpe and Councilman Newton's younger brother Winthrop are vying to fill the seat.

Councilman Newton says it's a tough job.

"Whomever it's going to be, they got to keep it going," Newton said. "We can't go back. My biggest frustration was, I came from a long line of council people that represented this district. There are a lot of problems still in this district."

There was standing room only at the candidates' forum. Most who attended say they're still trying to make up their mind on who to choose.

Mail-in ballots for the primary went out this week. Election Day is August 25.
