The city of St. Petersburg wants to hear from drivers for a new parking study.

The first workshop is Tuesday night.

The city hired a consultant to conduct the study, which will focus on supply, demand and adequacy of parking in downtown St. Pete and the Edge District.

It will look specifically at the area from Fifth Avenue N to Fifth Avenue S between Tampa Bay and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street. It will also include the area between Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street and I-275 from one block north of First Avenue N to one block south of First Avenue S.

Evan Mory, transportation and parking manager, said they want to hear from people who frequently park downtown. They want to know what’s working, what’s not, if people would like to see more technology, and if people think a new parking garage is needed.

"We’re hoping to find out from the perspective of business owners, people who live downtown, people who live in a neighborhood, and they just come downtown and park," said Mory. "What their perceptions are and where they find difficulties."

The city also has a survey posted online for anyone who can’t make it to the workshops. It will be available through Aug. 1.

The first workshop will be held Tuesday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Pinot's Palette, located at 1572 Central Ave.

The second workshop is on Wednesday at the Museum of Fine Arts, located at 255 Beach Dr., also from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Free two-hour street parking will be available for anyone who attends. To park for free, place a copy of the workshop flyer on your vehicle's dashboard.
