Two people were injured in a small plane crash Wednesday morning.
Police were notified of the crash at approximately 10:44 a.m. and found the plane with two occupants near a runway in a swampy area near the Lake Wales Municipal Airport.
Both the pilot and co-pilot were airlifted to area hospitals for treatment. Officials said both were seriously injured and one is currently undergoing surgery.
Police are working with the FAA and NTSB during this investigation.
