The Dr. Mary Giella Elementary School PTA will host a "Skate Night" fundraiser Wednesday evening for the 2-year-old boy who lost his right foot in a riding lawn mower accident over the weekend.

The event is at 5:30 p.m. at Locomo, 10451 County Line Road, Spring Hill. Proceeds will benefit Zayden Collins in his recovery and help cover his mother's lost time at work, the family said.

Tiffany Collins, 33, was riding a commercial zero-turn mower at the family's property Orange Drive on Saturday when she saw her son running toward her. She was unable to turn the mower off in time, and when Zayden fell on wet grass, his leg slipped beneath the mower, relatives say.

First responders packed the foot on ice, but doctors were not able to reattach it.

In the second of two surgeries Zayden has undergone at Tampa General Hospital, doctors amputated the injured leg just below the knee, which they said will make it easier for Zayden to walk and run with a prosthetic leg.
