Police are searching for a missing New Port Richey man.

According to police, Thomas Townsend was last seen Monday night at 8:30 p.m. at his downtown office at 5709 Main Street.

Police said Townsend, a husband and father of two, has several ties to the New Port Richey business community. Officials said it is out of character for Townsend to not have any contact with his family.

"It’s just very strange," said wife Theresa Townsend. "I can’t imagine that he would just get up and leave.”

Theresa said when she went into her husband's office on Tuesday morning, she found all of his personal items.

“When we went in, all of his belongings were there. Including, his car keys, his phone, his iPad,” she said.

Theresa also said she found her husband's wallet and ID inside his locked car. Police say what’s even stranger is they found the front door to Townsend’s business unlocked. Detectives say Townsend usually left out the rear of his business.

Officials said Townsend's last online contact was at 10:41 p.m. Monday.

“We just miss him and wish that he was home," she said. "The kids really miss him. So, we hope that he’s returned and comes home safe.”

Anyone with information into the whereabouts of Townsend are asked to contact New Port Richey police at (727) 841-4550.
