Scattered showers and thunderstorms continue to roll in off the warm gulf waters this afternoon.

Some are producing tropical downpours and lightning. The showers and thunderstorms should decrease through late afternoon and evening. The overnight should be mostly rain-free, although an isolated thunderstorm is still possible.

It will be overly humid with lows in the lower 80s around Tampa Bay, but mid 80s inland and in the northern counties.

On the beaches, onshore winds are creating a risk of rip currents. We’ve already had several reports of swimmers being rescued today. The west winds will increase a little tomorrow. and it could become breezy along the coast through the weekend.  Beware of an increasing risk of dangerous rip currents if going into the water.

A wetter pattern begins to take shape for the next few days. Computer models are in agreement a weak front will drop into our area and stay stationary with several waves of low pressure moving east along it.

The rain chances will be a little higher Thursday, with chances up to 40 percent. Then, with more moisture and the front nearby, rain chances will go up to 60 percent on Friday and even higher on Saturday. It looks like the humid and unsettled pattern will continue into next week.
