Police say a missing New Port Richey man is apparently in Germany.

Thomas Townsend, a husband and father of two, was last seen Monday night at his downtown office. Since then, police have been looking for him, as they say it was out of character for him to not have any contact with his family.

His wife said that when she went to his office Tuesday morning, she found all of his belongings, including his car keys, his phone and his iPad. She also said she found his wallet and identification inside his locked car.

On Thursday, police said detectives determined that Townsend used a credit card to buy a one-way ticket to Frankfurt, Germany, on July 7.

Detectives said that on Tuesday afternoon, Townsend left Orlando International Airport and flew to John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City. He left New York City, then arrived in Frankfurt on Wednesday at 10:45 a.m.

Police said they don't know why Townsend left. They have notified his wife.

Townsend has been removed from the national database as missing. Police said they are following up in Germany to make contact with Townsend.
