A Clearwater man was arrested Thursday in connection with a brutal beating that left another man dead.

Marshall Harris, 35, is facing first-degree murder charges in the death of Charles Ferrell.

According to Clearwater police, Ferrell, 51, was found dead inside an abandoned home on Osceola Avenue on May 4. Police said Ferrell had been hit in the head and face with an old-style large television and a glass jug, and that his chest had been stomped.

Police say Harris told others he had beaten and killed Ferrell, and his DNA and fingerprints were found at the scene.

Harris was arrested at his home on Betty Lane. He is being held without bond at the Pinellas County Jail.
