The Iran Nuclear Deal could change America’s relations with Iran for better or for worse.

Many Americans are confused and concerned about the deal, as politicians on both sides express their views on the matter.

Florida Congressmen Vern Buchanan is one of them. He held a town hall style meeting at Selby Auditorium on University of South Florida Sarasota's campus Sarasota on Saturday to hear resident concerns.

Some politicians like Secretary of State John Kerry feel the proposed Iran Nuclear Deal could stop the country from building nuclear weapons.

"We set out to dismantle their ability to be able to build a nuclear weapon,” Kerry said.

However, others like Republican Congressmen Vern Buchanan argue it will help Iranians fund their nuclear program.

“This is a 60-day process," Buchanan said. "We are on the front end of the process, we want to make the best informed decision for Americans as well as our allies in the Middle East.”

Buchanan invited House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Ed Royce as a guest speaker. Royce is also against the deal and fears if America removes our sanctions on Iran, it would put our safety in jeopardy.

“Concern over how they would spend that money, they have supported a lot of terrorist activities in the region and that is the worry over that issue,” said Royce.

The vast majority of residents including Susan Williams agreed with both congressmen’s fears.

“What have they ever done to show us that they are trustworthy,” said Williams.

On the other hand, Michael Donohue feels the deal is well thought out and he fears what could happen if America does not go through with it.

“Quite possible that Iran will proceed with the development of a nuclear weapon," Donohue said. "They would have it in three months. And then in my opinion, we would be faced with a military option.”

Buchanan says he will take the concerns from both sides to Washington, as talks will continue over this controversial topic.

Congress has less then 60 days before they will vote in favor or against the nuclear deal.
