The ongoing rains have made for wet and sloppy conditions across the Bay area, but one part of Pasco County was hit particularly hard.

Some residents in the Little Road area of Trinity between Mitchell Boulevard and Trinity Boulevard have been using kayaks to get around as people have been limited from going in and out of the neighborhood.

Pumping machines were brought in on Saturday to help remove ankle-deep water that was stranding people in their homes.

County officials closed off Mahaleb Drive Saturday as water rose to dangerous levels. Those water levels are going down but additional showers are expected Sunday afternoon.

Meanwhile, residents are doing the best they can to deal with the weather.

One resident had to wade through water to get to her mother's car, who drove to Pasco from Palm Harbor to give her daughter a ride to work.

"We were worried about snakes or maybe even alligators in the water," said Jazz McGinnis, who was picking up her daughter. "She had a flashlight, she had to wear shorts to come through and her flip flops broke in the water and she watched them float away."

The American Red Cross has officials helping about five neighborhood residents in need.
