An Allegiant Air flight made an emergency landing Thursday in Fargo, North Dakota after running dangerously low on fuel.

According to air officials, the flight was traveling from Las Vegas and was approaching Fargo when pilots were told the Fargo airport was closed for training for the Navy's Blue Angels.

The Allegiant pilot told air traffic controllers he needed to land immediately and was initially told he'd have to wait 20 minutes. The pilot then instructed the Fargo tower he only had about three minutes worth of fuel.

An emergency landing was declared and Flight 426 landed safely.

The flight's departure out of Las Vegas was delayed for about an hour and had been scheduled to arrive before the airport closed.

Allegiant officials and the FAA are investigating.

The incident is the latest miscue from the airline that has had multiple emergency landings and cancellations in recent months. Headquartered in Las Vegas, Allegiant is the main carrier to St. Petersburg-Clearwater Airport.
