An overnight fire destroyed a Clearwater gas station.

Investigators said the United Gas Station, located on Betty Lane, went up in flames just after midnight.

The inside of the store is completely ruined. Shelves are filled with burned soda bottles, insulation is hanging from the ceiling and broken glass is everywhere.

Store manager Mahmoud Masoud said he could’ve never prepared for the damage this overnight fire caused.

“I’m feeling bad," Masoud said. "Like I’m working here, I’ve got a big family, I have to take care of it and now I’m out of a job."

Even though the employees lost everything, they said they’re thankful the flames didn’t reach the gas pumps.

Devera Jones lives right behind the store and she’s just happy the blaze didn’t get to her house.

“My house is right here and I said, 'oh my God,' I hope they get that out because if that fire would’ve ignited this tree, it would’ve went over to my house,” she said. “Very terrifying because I have three grandchildren in there.”

Investigators have determined the cause of the fire was electrical.

But that doesn’t bring any comfort to Masoud who is now out of a job and this neighborhood is now out of a gas station.

The store manager said he’s not sure if and when they will rebuild.
