A 22-year-old Inverness man has been arrested and charged with having sex with a 12-year-old girl.
Samuel Taylor was arrested Monday and is facing lewd and lascivious battery charges.
According to the Citrus County Sheriff's Office, when questioned by deputies, Taylor admitted to having sex with the girl and to knowing how old she was.
Deputies said the girl had been sneaking out of her house to meet Taylor since May.
The girl's mother became suspicious in mid June when she saw her daughter and Taylor together in the neighborhood, officials said. She said after speaking with her daughter, the 12-year-old told her she had been meeting Taylor and having sex with him.
Taylor's bond was set at $10,000.
