Polk County sheriff's deputies are investigating what they believe was a murder-attempted suicide in Lakeland.

According to the sheriff's office, deputies responded to a home on Crystal Hill Loop S in Lakeland around 9 a.m. Friday and found 43-year-old Angele Honeycutt, who lived at the home with her adult daughter, dead with a gunshot wound.

Deputies learned a of a suspicious vehicle located a mile away in an industrial area of Reynolds Road. Investigators there found Nancy Vincente, 48, of Mulberry on the ground with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. She was transported to Lakeland Regional Health, where was listed in critical condition Saturday afternoon.

Detectives say Honeycutt had been involved in an intermittent romantic relationship with Vincente and that Vincente had spent the night at the Crystal Hills Loop S home on Thursday. When family members awoke Friday, Vincente and her vehicle were gone, and Honeycutt was found dead in her bed, deputies say.

Detectives say they believe Vincente shot Honeycutt, left the scene and attempted suicide. An autopsy is planned.
