The body of a man was retrieved from the Anclote River Wednesday evening by Pasco Sheriff's Office deputies.

A call came in at 5:16 p.m. alerting officials to the body of a white male in the water.

Once deputies responded to the location near Riverbank Drive in New Port Richey, members of the Pasco Sheriff's Office Marine Unit were called to the scene to retrieve the body, which was recovered about 8 p.m.

An identity will be determined through the investigation and the cause of death will not be known until the body can be examined by the medical examiner's office.
