A motorcyclist was killed Wednesday morning when he was hit by a Jeep, St. Petersburg police say.

The crash happened at 8:23 a.m. at the intersection of Fifth Avenue N and 34th Street N.

According to St. Petersburg police, Thomas Bilicki, 48, was riding a 2014 Triumph motorcycle south on 34th Street N when a 2012 Jeep Liberty made a left turn from the northbound lanes onto Fifth Avenue N.

Police said the driver of the Jeep, David Slaughter, 40, failed to see Bilicki and crashed into his motorcycle as he cross the intersection.

Bilicki was thrown from his motorcycle into two other vehicles that were stopped in the eastbound lanes of Fifth Avenue N.
