The two suspects identified in the beating of an Applebee's patron are now in custody.

Daryon Jones, 31, and Eric Davis, 31, both of Winter Haven were taken into custody in Bartow where they turned themselves in. Both men are facing misdemeanor battery charges.

According to police, 30-year-old Anthony Williams of Winter Haven was sitting in the bar area of Applebee's, located at 201 Cypress Gardens Blvd., when he got into a fight with two other men sitting at the end of the bar.

The three exchanged words and the two suspects, identified as Jones and Davis, walked over to Williams and the argument continued. The manager stepped in and it appeared Jones and Davis were going to leave the restaurant.

When Williams got up to head towards the door, one of the suspects was hidden in a corner just off the walkway to the bar area in an obvious attempt to ambush Williams. As Williams walked through the opening, the suspect jumped him and started punching and kicking him. The other suspect, who had walked outside, immediately re-entered the restaurant and joined in by punching and kicking Williams as well.

The altercation went on for roughly 20 seconds when the manager again stepped in and broke up the fight. Although roughed up, Williams sustained only minor injuries and required no medical attention.

"We would like to thank the media for immediately putting the video out for the public to see," said Chief Charles Bird. "The tip identifying these two came in within a very short time after the release of the video."

The tip confirmed the identities of Jones and Davis after credit card information was obtained through Applebee's.
