A 33-year-old Plant City motorcyclist riding with a passenger was killed in a crash near Brandon early Tuesday.

Around 3:15 a.m., the motorcyclist lost control of his Yamaha while making a right turn from E Adamo Drive onto northbound U.S. 301, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The motorcycle struck the raised center median, overturned and came to rest in the path of a northbound Toyota Camry. The car then struck the motorcycle.

The motorcyclist was transported to Tampa General Hospital, where he later died. His name has been withheld pending notification of relatives.

Passenger Marissa Anne Hale, 18, of Riverview, was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the Camry, Ejgu Chanie Marye, 46, of Riverview, was not injured.

Northbound U.S. 301 was closed for a time while investigators processed the scene.
