A lightning strike is being blamed for a fire that damaged a home in Inverness Saturday.

Firefighters responded to the home on Spend A Buck Drive shortly before 5 p.m. When they arrived, they found a 3,000-square-foot home with heavy smoke and fire coming from the roof.

The firefighters went into the house and found the attic heavily involved in fire. They aggressively attacked the fire, and were able to leave the scene shortly after 8 p.m.

No one was home at the time of the fire. No one was injured.

Officials said the fire was not suspicious and that it has been ruled accidental due to lightning strike.

Damage to the house and its contents was estimated at $126,000.
