The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office is investigating a deputy-involved crash in Largo.

According to investigators, Corporal Peter Doyle was preparing to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle that was traveling westbound on Roosevelt Boulevard around 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The vehicle was in the left turn lane and began to make a left turn onto Dodge Street as Corporal Doyle followed.

As Corporal Doyle turned left he did not see the driver of a 2006 GMC Pickup truck traveling eastbound on Roosevelt Blvd. The driver of the GMC was unable to stop and avoid a collision, causing the GMC Pickup to strike the front wheel well area of Corporal Doyle's marked Chevy Tahoe.

Corporal Doyle was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver, Eddie Rumph, 71, and passenger, Callie Rumph, 67, of the GMC were also transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

It does not appear speed nor drug/alcohol impairment were factors in the crash.
