An Allegiant Air flight from St. Petersburg was forced to make an emergency landing Monday.

After leaving St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport, the flight made an emergency landing in Greensboro, N.C., on its way to Richmond, Va.

Some of the nearly 150 passengers on the flight said they smelled smoke and heard a popping noise before the landing.

An Allegiant official said the plane had engine issues and maintenance is examining the plane.

All passengers will receive partial refunds and $100 vouchers for future flights, according to officials with the airline.

This is the latest incident for the airline, which had three emergency landings in St. Petersburg since June. Also, the airline has had dozens of cancellations across the country.

On Saturday, an Allegiant flight made an emergency landing at the McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas. Last week, an Allegiant flight was forced to make an emergency landing in North Dakota after running low on fuel.

Headquartered in Las Vegas, Allegiant is the main carrier to St. Petersburg-Clearwater Airport.
