A Plant City man died Tuesday morning after he was hit by a car while riding his bicycle.
The crash happened at 7:42 a.m. at the intersection of Kings Avenue and Lumsden Road in Brandon.
Jose M. Maldonado, 35, was riding his bicycle south across Lumsden Road against a red light in the west crosswalk when he was hit by a 2006 Lexus, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.
Maldonado died from injuries he sustained in the crash.
Deputies said the driver of the Lexus, Veronica Pecinia, 30, of Riverview, entered the intersection with a green light. She was not injured in the crash.
The roads were closed for several hours during the investigation. They have since been reopened.
