A bicyclist was critically injured on Wednesday in Largo after failing to yield to traffic, according to police.

Police said a Hyundai Santa Fe was traveling east on East Bay Drive around 5:38 p.m. in the median lane when a bicyclist attempted to cross the road without yielding to traffic.

The bicyclist was struck and flown to a trauma center where he is listed in critical condition.

The driver of the Santa Fe, 55-year-old Brian Miles, was not injured in the crash.

The name of the bicyclist has not yet been released.

Charges are not expected to be filed against Miles, officials said.

According to police, alcohol appears to have been a factor with the unnamed bicyclist.
