A motorcycle driver and his passenger were killed in a high-speed crash in rural Zephyrhills on Saturday night, authorities said.

Shane Bowling, 24, of St. Petersburg was driving a 2001 Suzuki GSR600S south on Fort King Road at a high rate of speed around 8:30 p.m., the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The motorcycle caught and ran into a 2013 Dodge Dart that had turned south onto Fort King Road from Phelps Road, troopers said.

Bowling and his passenger, 20-year-old Caitlyn Marie Bradley of New Brockton, Alabama, were ejected. Bowling died at the scene. Bradley was flown to St. Joseph's hospital in Tampa, where she later died.
